Academy 12336 1/48 USAAF B-25B Doolittle Raid
Overview
The Academy USAAF B-25B “Doolittle Raid” 1:48 Scale Plastic Model Kit commemorates one of the most significant air operations of World War II, the Doolittle Raid on Tokyo in April 1942. Led by Colonel James H. Doolittle and launched from the aircraft carrier USS Hornet, this daring mission marked the first American air raid on the Japanese mainland and remains a landmark moment in aviation history.
This kit recreates the twin-engine B-25B Mitchell bomber used in the raid, capturing its distinctive design and historic importance. Produced as part of the Battle of Midway 80th Anniversary (1942–2022), the model provides an opportunity to build a meaningful tribute to this operation, complete with detailed markings for the participating aircraft.
Designed as an unassembled and unpainted plastic model, the kit requires glue, paints, and standard modelling tools to complete. It also includes canopy masks to assist with precise finishing, making it a rewarding project for modellers interested in historical aircraft subjects.
